Home Assignment Information
---------
General Information
As you prepare for home assignment, you are being inundated with a steady flow of information. We are providing you this summarized checklist of items to assist you in the home assignment preparation process.
1. Home Assignment Approval. Your Field Leadership Team or your field director must recommend the date of your home assignment prior to the year in which your home assignment is due. Approval is needed from IM before you leave the field.
2. Return Approval. Before you leave on home assignment, your field leadership must vote on your return to the field after home assignment and IM must act on that recommendation.
3. Shipping. Please read carefully the Shipping link that includes specific information on Baggage Allowance Incoming.
4. Homebound Travel. Please fill out the Worker Travel and Tour Request Form. The details on your trip home should be sent (1) to your field office, and (2) to your regional director. This should all be completed two months before you actually depart from the field, and earlier if possible. Field departure and home arrival dates are very important.
5. Correspondence. To help us assist you more efficiently, please address your correspondence regarding FIELD matters to your regional director; matters relating to ALLOWANCES to International Accounting at IntlAcctng@cmalliance.org or see the Missionary Finance Handbook (Word document); MEDICAL INSURANCE to the Benefits Office (1-800-700-2651 or benefits@cmalliance.org); TRAVEL matters to Judy Ames; SHIPPING AND FREIGHT to Linda Ham; home assignment issues and other matters to the assistant vice president/International Ministries: David L. Kennedy for Africa, Europe/Middle East regions or James B. Malone for Latin America, Asia/Pacific and Chinese Ministries regions. Any mailing address, email address or telephone number changes should be sent to their assistants.
6. Medical Examinations. Please refer to the Benefits Summary or go to Benefits for more information on the International Worker Benefits Plan.
Please visit the Medical Forms page to download the appropriate information and forms if you plan to have your physical(s) done prior to returning to the U.S. It is imperative that you have our physical form to take with you when you have your physical done. After your physical has been completed, the form should be sent to:
     Dr. Charles L. Folkestad
     N. 8303 627th Street
     Colfax, WI 54730
All workers on contract should NOT schedule a medical exam during their midterm home assignment unless there is a physical problem.
7. Advise your district leaders. You should contact your district superintendent, Alliance Women’s district president, and the church where you hold membership at least three months before you come on home assignment of your home assignment plans and when you could be available for ministry. You should plan to spend some time in your district if at all possible. If you find it impossible to even visit the district in which you hold your church membership during two consecutive home assignments or more, you may want to consider transferring your membership to the district where you regularly spend your home assignment. This should be done early in your home assignment if you decide to do so. Please advise us accordingly.
8. Retirement. Workers anticipating retirement within the next year or so should make preparations for Medicare coverage at the appropriate time. It is unwise and risky to wait until you have reached age 65 to file the applications.
9. The 2009 General Council will be held in Louisville, Kentucky, May 26-31, 2009. Click Here for more details! The Missionary Handbook contains complete regulations regarding your eligibility to attend Council at International Ministries expense. To be eligible for financial assistance it is important to attend both the Pre-Council Missionary Conference and General Council for the entire time.
10. Home Assignment Ministry Seminar (HAMS).

11. Missions Conference Tours. All workers going on tour should view the following information regarding Missionary Tours.
---
Tour ministry offers you an opportunity to promote God's work overseas and to secure the prayers and financial backing of God's people for your part in the harvest. Our desire is that this will be a fruitful time for you and one of growth in Christ. You represent God, The Christian and Missionary Alliance, and your own personal ministries overseas. We're trusting that you will do this well with God's strength and enabling. Thank you for being amenable to pastors and to others in charge, and for expressing your appreciation to them and their church congregations. Thank you for being gracious and warm in your interactions with those who entertain you and provide your lodging. Thank you to your families for the sacrifices they make so that you can go on tour. We are grateful for you and your commitment in this, and for the significant message you will be sharing with the greater Alliance family during your tour ministry.
12. Approved Specials. A list of Approved Specials for your field may be requested from our office or accessed through MyCMA. Although these are approved by International Ministries, no appeals are to be made without approval of the district superintendent involved and the pastor of the church where you wish to appeal, and then only after the Faith Promise offering has been taken. Appeals may not be made for items which do not appear on the Approved Specials list. You may make appeals through your prayer letter.
13. Photographs. Four months before you return to your overseas assignment we will need three photos (4x5). We recommend these be taken before you begin your tour ministry. Please send us the photos as early in your home assignment as possible along with details and receipts for reimbursement from International Ministries (includes sitting charge and three photos). This request is only for every fifth year and is not applicable to missionary associates or career missionaries who are on a mid-term home assignment.

14. Return To The Field. Approximately two months before you return to the field, you will receive your field credential cards and instruction for completing your Outgoing Travel Information form.
