Hurricane Rita Reports
---------
Hurricane Rita was the fourth-most intense Atlantic hurricane ever recorded and the third Category 5 storm of the 2005 Hurricane season. By the time Rita made landfall on September 24, 2005, it had weakened to a Category 3 hurricane along the southeastern Texas-Louisiana border. The storm surge caused extensive damage and completely destroyed some coastal communities.
